Australia beat Sri Lanka by 134 runs at Adelaide Oval

Sri Lanka cricket team is right now visiting Australia after finishing their Pakistan tour where they presented the impressive performance in the T20I series. They whitewashed Pakistan in the T20I series. Now, they are playing three matches T20I series against the home team Australia. The Lions can easily beat Pakistan but now, they are facing Australia. Before starting the official T20I series, Sri Lanka played a warm-up match against Prime Minister’s XI. Against them, the Lions were defeated by 1 wicket. Now, in the official T20I started earlier today and in the inaugural match, Australia beat Sri Lanka by 134 runs at Adelaide Oval!

Earlier today at the Adelaide Oval, the first T20I between Australia and Sri Lanka took place. The guest team Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. 

Aussie captain Aaron Finch and David Warner opened the inning for the local team. The opening partnership of the Aussie added 122 runs in 10.5 overs when Finch was gone scoring 64 runs. Later, Glenn Maxwell came and made another long-lasting partnership with Warner. Their partnership added more than 100 runs.

In 229 runs, Maxwell was taken by Shanaka. He added 62 runs in 28 balls. David Warner remained not out and made an amazing century. He faced 56 balls and scored 100 runs. Warner colored his innings by making ten 4’s and four 6’s. By losing only 2 wickets, Australia presented 233 runs in 20 overs against the guest team Sri Lanka.


Later, Sri Lanka came to chase the score. Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis opened the innings for the Lions but in 1 run, Mendis returned to the dressing room. Just 12 runs later, another opener Danushka Gunathilaka was gone as well. Top three batsmen of the Lions were failed.

Just a couple of top orders players made it to the double-figure runs. The highest scorer for the Lions is Dasun Shanaka who added 17 runs. Fernando and Lasith Malinga added 13 runs each. By losing 9 wickets, Sri Lanka scored 99 runs in 20 overs. Adam Zampa took three wickets where Starc and Pat Cummins took two wickets each for the Aussie.

David Warner has been awarded as the player of the match for his brilliant century. However, it is the biggest T20I victory for Australia and on the other side, the biggest T20I defeat for Sri Lanka.
