Cristiano’s Ballon d’Or victory will be unreasonable – Iker Casillas

Cristiano's Ballon d'Or victory will be unreasonable

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time no doubt who is a prolific goalscorer as well. He is also called as the goal machine for his ability. However, the Portuguese star is one of the few selected players for the Ballon d’Or 2019. But, his former Real Madrid mate Iker Casillas stated that Cristiano’s Ballon d’Or victory will be unreasonable!

Lionel Messi has won the FIFA Best Player award this season and the Dutch defender Van Dijk won the UEFA Best Player award as well. Now, the most precious and prestigious title Ballon d’Or will be given in the next December 2019. And now, Casillas made the controversial statement. He thinks that Cristiano Ronaldo should not be selected for the Ballon d’Or this time! Ys, the friend of Cristiano has gone rogue. Both Iker Casillas and Cristiano played for the Spanish club Real Madrid and led the team to the title. Both players won the La Liga and Champions League title for the club as well.

When the time came for the FIFA  Best Player or the Ballon d’Or, Iker Casillas praised Ronaldo what he did in the last season and so, according to the Spanish goalkeeper, he should win the title earlier. But now, no player is at the Santiago Bernabeu. Now, Iker has changed his tone. He does not think that CR7 should not win the Ballon d’Or and he even does not think it was logical of selecting Cristiano for the award.

In the year of 2015, Cristiano left Real Madrid who was the captain of the team once. And in the last season, the Portuguese star left Bernabeu and joined at the Juventus Stadium. Both are now far from each other and so, their minds have been changed as well. But it is not true for the former Real goalkeeper. He presented some logic behinds his thought. The Spanish news portal Marca stated Casillas’s tweet earlier. According to them, Casillas stated that Van Dijk won the UEFA Best Player and Messi won the FIFA Best Player award. Now, if the Juve forward would manage the Ballon d’Or, then it can be understood that to give the award based on the individual performance by considering the certain rules are fully unreasonable.

Cristiano is passing some amazing time with his national team in the 2020 UEFA Euro qualifying round. By coming to the last moment in the tournament, he made some amazing records and already scored 99 goals wearing his national team’s shirt. But still, it would be quite surprising if he wins the Ballon d’Or by leaving Messi and Van Dijk behind.
