Danushka’s ton could not save the ODI series against Pakistan

After so many speculations, the Sri Lankan cricket team is traveling Pakistan where they are scheduled to play an ODI series and a T20I series. It is true that a number of top-rated Sri Lanka players have not taken part in the tournament for the security issue but most of them have agreed to visit. They have started the dual tournament with the ODI series that consisted of three matches. The series was about to start from 27th September 2019 but the inaugural ODI was abandoned due to rain. The 2nd match took place at the National Stadium, Karachi where the Green Army found an easy victory. Sri Lanka fought hard in the 3rd match and sometimes it was thought that the ODI series would be drawn. The Lions player Danushka Gunathilaka made an amazing century but Danushka’s ton could not save the ODI series against Pakistan!

The Green Army were looking forward to win the series by winning the 3rd ODI and now, their dream has come true. Earlier today, Pakistan played the 3rd ODI against the guest team Sri Lanka at the same stadium in Karachi and the home team managed an amazing victory.

Now, they have the T20I series ahead and the guest team Sri Lanka would want to win the series no doubt. But when we look at the T20I performance, the Shaheens are far ahead of the Lions and at the home venue, they will be the hot favourite no doubt.

Earlier today at the National Stadium, Karachi, the 3rd and final ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka took place where the guest team won the toss and decided to bat first. A Lankan player Minod Bhanuka made his ODI debut through the match. Gunathilaka and Fernando opened the innings for the guest team but in 13 runs, Fernando was gone. Amir took the important wicket in just 4 runs. The 2nd wicket partnership was good and the Lions added more than 80 runs jointly. In 101 runs, the 2nd wicket was returned to the dressing room.

But at the end of the crease, Gunathilaka stood strong and dominated the Shaheens bowlers. He managed an amazing century. The Lions star faced 134 balls and added 133 runs. By making 16 four’s and one six, he colored his innings. Amir once again stroke hard and took the opener. Out of the rest players, wicketkeeper Monod added 36 runs and Dasun Shanaka added 43 runs. So, in 50 overs, Sri Lanka lost nine wickets and added 297 runs so far. Mohammad Amir took three wickets for the home team in the match.

Pakistan chased the score successfully in 48.2 overs. Top orders of the team got runs where Fakhar added 76 runs and Abid Ali scored 74 runs so far. Besides, Haris Sohail added another 56 runs and made the victory quite easy.
