India whitewashed South Africa in Test series

Proteas are scheduled to play a dual tournament against India and for the purpose, they are visiting India right now. The tournament consists of T20I, ODI and Test series and it started on 15th September 2019 with the T20I series. The most interesting fact is that all the series consists of three matches. The T20I series finished with a 1 – 1 draw and later, they have played the three matches Test series. We all know that India is so fearsome at their home venue and due to the longest batting lineup, they used to dominate the opponent bowlers. Against Proteas, they have done the same. Earlier today, the Test series between India and South Africa has finished and India whitewashed South Africa in Test series!

Yes, whitewash. It is quite surprising no doubt. Proteas is a strong team in World cricket but against India, their recent performance is so poor. They started the long format series better than the current condition. Even they fought in the first Test though faced the defeat by 203 runs. And in the 2nd match, India won by an innings and 137 runs. By winning the first two matches, the local team confirmed the Test series. And now, earlier today, they successfully won the 3rd Test and confirmed the whitewash.

Earlier on 19th October 2019, the 3rd Test started between India and South Africa. The local team won the toss and decided to bat first. Team India played 116.3 overs in the match where Rohit Sharma scored the highest 212 runs. Besides, Rahane added 115 runs and Ravindra Jadeja added 51 more runs. So, they presented 497 runs in exchange for nine wickets and lost all wickets. George Linde took four wickets and Rabada took three wickets for Proteas.


Later, South Africa came to bat for the first innings. Just three players of the team made it to the double-figure runs. By losing 10 wickets, South Africa scored 162 runs in 56.2 overs. For such poor runs in the first innings, team South Africa was trapped by the follow-on. They came to bat for the 2nd innings and once again, they faced the batting collapsed. The highest scorer of the team was Theunis de Bruyn who added only 30 runs. Proteas lost all wickets scoring 133 runs in just 48 overs. So, team India won by an innings and 202 runs so far.
