Steve Smith secured the top position in ICC test ranking

Steve Smith is the current top batsman in Australia cricket team and now, Smith secured the top position in ICC Test ranking! No, not his team Australia but as the Test batsman, he has overtaken Virat Kohli and standing on the top position. After suffering the punishment for ball-tampering, with the Ashes Series 2019, Steve Smith returned to the ground with Australia national team. After that, he played three innings and his score were 144,142 and 92. Due to the injury, Smith could not play the 3rd Test of Ashes. But based on his three innings, Steve Smith secured the top position in ICC Test ranking.

Before updating the ranking position, Indian national team skipper Virat Kohli was 6 points ahead of the former Aussie captain Smith. Kohli scored 76 runs in the first innings of the Kingston Test but in the 2nd innings, he made a duck. So, for just 1 point, Kohli is demoted to the 2nd position. By achieving 904 points, Steve Smith has moved to the top position and Virat’s rating is 903.

Earlier in the last December 2015, Smith moved to the top position. But after three years, on August 2018, Virat Kohli claimed it from Smith. At the Capetown in the last year of March, for the ball-tampering fact, Smith was banned for 12 months. So, he obviously lost the top position.

Now, from the next match, the former Aussie skipper has got the chance of increasing his rating. At the Manchester, the 4th Test of Ashes serries will start tomorrow. On the other side, at the venue of West Indies, India won the Test series and now, they have to wait for the next October. In that time, South Africa will visit India.

For the cricket fans of India, the Kohli’s news is not good but they have also good news. Before staring the Kingston Test, the Indian Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was standing on the 7th position considering the Test Bowling ranking. At the Kingston, he took six wickets in exchange for 27 runs and now, he has been promoted to the 3rd position.

Now, his rating point is 835. After 1980, Kapil Dev achieved 877 points and now, Bumrah’s point is the 2nd highest in Test for India as the bowler. Jasprit Bumrah has achieved the points by playing just 12 Tests and all matches were away.
