The Lions bowlers could not bring the victory

Sri Lanka cricket team is playing the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 but their hope of moving into the semi-final is getting poorer in every defeat. Before today’s match, they had strong hope as like Pakistan and Bangladesh but in their 7th match, they faced the defeat. So, now they have two matches in hand. Sri Lanka has gathered six points by playing seven matches in the World Cup and if they would manage two more victories, their points will be ten. Their next opponent is West Indies which is already eliminated from the competition but the last opponent is India, the Asian superpower. Against India, it would be tough for them to get the victory. So, today’s match was their best chance to increase their points. But, the Lions bowlers could not bring the victory!

If we consider today’s match, it was the 35th match of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. In the match, South Africa faced Sri Lanka. Including the match, Proteas played a total of eight matches in the group level but managed just two victories. We all know that South Africa is ruled out from the tournament already which means they have no chance to move to the next round.

But still, they would not let their opponent get an easy victory. It is true, they are passing the worst time in the World Cup 2019 but they are Proteas, it needs to remember.

The most surprising fact is that after passing the worst time, against Sri Lanka, their players got their best form. They got the dominating victory against the Lions earlier today. South Africa won by 9 wickets! Can you believe that?

Earlier today at the Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street, South Africa faced the Lions where Proteas won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Lions came to bat but stumbled in the beginning. In 0 runs, opener Dimuth Karunaratne returned to the dressing room. He made a golden duck. In the opening ball, Rabada stroke and the Lions captain was gone.

In the 2nd wicket partnership, they added 67 runs and it was their big partnership in the match. Perera and Fernando scored 30 runs each in the match. No players could add more runs than them. They could not play 50 overs but in 49.3 overs lost all wickets and scored 203 runs only.

By losing a wicket, South Africa chased the score in 37.2 overs. Amla added 80 runs and captain Plessis scored 96 runs so far.
