In the year, no one will be awarded by the Best FIFA Men’s Player. The Spanish news portal ‘MARCA’ has claimed that. In that case, the defending winner Messi is keeping his crown for another year.
Lionel Messi who is the current Ballon d’Or winner won the last the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2019. And for the next season, FIFA planned to give the Best FIFA Men’s Player award in the next September 2020. But because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the function has been canceled by FIFA.
FUFA has already postponed the upcoming Women Under-17 and Women Under-20 World Cup till February 2021. They also postponed the Futsal World Cup for one year reportedly. However, they have not made any decision of the FIFA Club World Cup yet.

At the beginning of the Corona outbreak, FIFA president Gianni Infantino told that considering the situation, FIFA will give the highest importance to health security. By defeating the Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo and the Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk, in the last year, Lionel Messi won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award. Now, when the FIFA has taken the decision of not giving the award this year, as the defending champion, the title will be kept by the Barcelona Argentine star Lionel Messi.
Not only that but later, the Argentine forward also won the Ballon d’Or. But the Dutch Liverpool defender Van Dijk won the UEFA Best Men’s Player award by defeating Messi and Cristiano. It seems that UEFA might cancel their next award program just like FIFA. In that case, Van Dijk might hold the award for one more year like Messi.

The news portal also revealed that the winner of the 2019/20 the Best FIFA Men’s Player will be kept empty. Because of the Coronavirus which is the global threat now, most of the football competitions have bee postponed right now. More than two months have passed from when the European leagues are not taking place.
However, a couple of league authorities are planning to resume the season but still, they are at risk. It seems that Corona has stopped football in the year. So, some can make fun of that Corona has won the Best FIFA Player award this year.
