Sri Lanka faced the T20I series defeat against India

Sri Lankan cricket team has finished their tour in India for now. They were scheduled to play a three matches T20I series against the local team India. In recent time, Sri Lanka T20squad is quite balanced and got a few success in the format. They recently visited Pakistan and beat them in the T20I series though the Shaheens is holding the top position on the T20I ranking considering the ICC. But Pakistan and India are not the same. At the home venue, India is always destructive and fearsome at the same time. The three matches T20I series started on 5th January 2020. India has made the tournament colourful in the new year. Earlier today, India and Sri Lanka played the 3rd match of the T20I series and Sri Lanka could not win but faced a big defeat. So, Sri Lanka faced the T20I series defeat against India this time.

The first T20I which took place on 5th January at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati, due to the rain, the match was abandoned. No play was possible. Just two days later, on 7th January, at the Holkar Stadium, Indore, the 2nd match took place. Sri Lanka scored 142 runs in 20 overs but India chased the score quite easily. They won by 7 wickets. So, the local team went ahead by a 1 - 0. The one match was in hand and to secured the series, the Lions needed to manage a victory but could not.

However, earlier today, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, the 3rd and last T20I took place between India and Sri Lanka. The guest team won the toss and this time, they let India bat first. Most of the venues in India are batting favoured and their batsmen took the chance. In their innings, India scored 201 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs.

Rahul and Dhawan came to bat for India. They made a good partnership of 97 runs in 10.5 overs. The established ground led them to the big total. Rahul scored 54 runs highest and Dhawan added 52 runs so far. Among the rest players, Manish Pandey scored 31 runs and the captain of the team Kohli added 26 runs so far.


The Lions came to chase the score later but in just 26 runs, they lost top four wickets. Just two players of the team touched two figure runs so far. Angelo Mathews scored 31 runs and Dhananjaya de Silva scored the highest 57 runs. In 15.5 overs, Sri Lanka lost all wickets scoring 123 runs.
